Steam, unlike other Windows applications, does not need re-downloading and re-installing. Take for instance the case of newly bought computers or bigger hard drives for the storage of your Steam games, you can instantly relocate your titles without having to go through a lengthy download procedure.. An another reason why Steam is such an outstanding programme.
Steam, on the other hand, can be installed on several computers without the need for a re-download and re-installation. Whether you’ve bought a new computer or a bigger hard drive for your games, moving your Steam games from one machine or drive to another doesn’t have to take a long time.
Steam’s free services are required, for example, if you have a huge collection of games taking up hundreds of gigabytes of hard disc space. While Steam saves all of its titles in the Steam folder, save data from third-party games may need some additional effort to move from one location to another.

It is important to be aware of a handful of factors before proceeding:
First, if Steam is currently operating, shut it. After that, go to the Steam folder on your computer’s hard drive. Steam instals by default to the following locations: C:Program FilesSteam (on 32-bit versions of Windows) or C:Program Files (x86)Steam (on 64-bit versions of Windows) (on 64-bit versions of Windows). If you installed Steam to a place other than the default, go to that directory instead.
Select all of the files in the Steam folder, with the exception of the SteamApps folder and the Steam.exe file, and then remove them. To pick many files at once, use Ctrl+A in the folder, then Ctrl+Click the SteamApps folder and the Steam.exe file to select them all at once.
You should now have an empty folder containing just the SteamApps folder – which holds your downloaded games – and the Steam.exe application, with the exception of any other files.
Transform the whole Steam folder to a new place by dragging and dropping it. If you’re putting it on a new hard drive in your old system, make sure it’s at a convenient position like D:Steam or something similar. You may migrate your Steam files to a new computer by copying them to an external hard drive (or transferring them over a network), then putting them anyplace on your new hard drive that you want them.
The Steam application may be launched by double-clicking the Steam.exe file and logging into your account once you’ve relocated the Steam folder to its new location. Steam will automatically download the small number of files that are required.
Occasionally, before playing a game, you may wish to validate its cache – that is, make sure that all of the game’s files are there on your system and are not damaged. If Steam detects a problem, it will redownload the files that were previously downloaded. The cache of a game may be checked by right-clicking it on Steam, selecting Properties, selecting the Local Files tab, and then clicking the Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.
Steam Cloud is a service that allows you to save your game saves online and synchronise them across your machines. Many games use Steam Cloud to store their save files. To see which of your installed games are compatible with Steam Cloud, choose List View from the menu bar in the top right corner of your Steam games library and look for titles that have cloud icons in their icons. Steam also keeps additional items online, such as screenshots of games that you have taken.
Unfortunately, many titles do not work with Steam Cloud at this time. Some of these games will store their save files in an apparent area, such as the My Games folder in your Documents directory, while others may store them in an obscure spot. To transfer these saves to another computer, copy the My Games directory from the first computer and paste it in the same spot on the second machine.
To copy a specific game’s save files over, you can try searching for its save game location on Google. However, you might want to use GameSave Manager, which is a faster way to migrate many game saves over at once. While GameSave Manager doesn’t support every game, it can quickly scan your hard drive for game saves and package them into a single, convenient file. This file can be restored on another computer using GameSave Manager, effectively migrating your saved games to the other computer.
Maintain communication with your other players, whether you are at your computer or on the move, by using Discord or the Steam Chat client.
Alternatively, you may copy the game saves from your old Windows 10 PC to your new Windows 10 PC manually.
Select Copy by selecting a game save file from the context menu when you right-click on it in the game’s folder. Make a copy of your save game in a convenient location. Paste may be done by right-clicking a blank space in the folder and selecting the option. A backup copy of your Steam game data may then be moved back into this location whenever necessary.
It is possible for games that use cloud saves to store these files at C:Program Files (x86)SteamUserdata. A folder with the game name, publisher name, or within “My Games” may also include save files for certain games. You may also find these files in your “Documents” folder.
